Provider setup reference

Use this if your email or calendar lives in iCloud, Outlook, or Yahoo and you want a Google account available for starter assistant exercises. Keep permissions narrow and do not forward sensitive mail just to test.

Safety note: Do not forward a sensitive inbox or publish a sensitive calendar just to test. Use sample events or a dedicated Google account if you are unsure.

Provider steps

iCloud

iCloud Mail and Calendar

Use these if your day-to-day email or calendar is in Apple iCloud.

Mail

  1. Open icloud.com/mail on your laptop and sign in.
  2. Open Settings, choose Mail Forwarding, and turn on Forward my email to.
  3. Enter your Gmail address and save.

Calendar

  1. Open icloud.com/calendar on your laptop.
  2. Use the calendar info button next to the calendar you want available for starter exercises.
  3. Turn on Public Calendar and copy the calendar link.
  4. Open Google Calendar - Add by URL, paste the link, and add the calendar.
Outlook

Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, or Microsoft 365

Use these if your email or calendar is in a Microsoft account.

Mail

  1. Open Outlook forwarding settings.
  2. Turn on forwarding, enter your Gmail address, and save.
  3. If Microsoft asks you to turn on two-step verification first, follow that prompt and come back to the forwarding page.

Calendar

  1. Open Outlook shared calendar settings.
  2. Under Publish a calendar, choose your calendar and a view permission.
  3. Publish it and copy the ICS link, not the HTML link.
  4. Open Google Calendar - Add by URL, paste the ICS link, and add the calendar.

Work or school Microsoft accounts may block forwarding or calendar publishing. If that happens, use a personal Google account for starter exercises and avoid connecting the work account until you have the right permissions.

Yahoo

Yahoo Mail and Calendar

Use these if Yahoo is your main inbox or calendar.

Mail

  1. Create or confirm your Google account first.
  2. If your Yahoo account includes forwarding, open Yahoo Mail settings, choose Mailboxes, select your primary mailbox, and add your Gmail address under Auto-forwarding.
  3. Verify the forwarding email Yahoo sends to Gmail.

Calendar

The simplest path is to add one or two sample events directly to Google Calendar and use that Google calendar for starter exercises. Yahoo calendar sync is not a reliable quick setup.

Yahoo automatic forwarding requires Yahoo Mail Plus or Access + Forwarding in many accounts and locales. Do not buy Yahoo Mail Plus just to test this; use the Google account for starter exercises.
